Homemade Healthy Chai Latte Recipe

As the weather grows colder, warm drinks become more and more appealing. Every morning, I like to start my day with a chai latte. Making them at home is less expensive than going to a coffee shop, and I can add extra healthy ingredients, like collagen (which is full of protein and good for your hair, skin, nails, joints, and digestion!) and raw, local honey instead of cane sugar. Feel free to switch out the chai for matcha, turmeric, or other kinds of tea to make different kinds of lattes!

 

Ingredients: 

  • 1/4 tsp. masala chai powder (I use a brand called Blue Lotus Chai)  

  • 1 tsp. local honey

  • 2 tbsp. grass-fed collagen powder (I use Great Lakes brand)

  • 4 oz. dairy-free milk of your choice (coconut milk, hemp milk, cashew milk, almond milk, etc.)

  • 4 oz. water 
     

Directions: 

  1. Heat water in a tea kettle, and measure out the milk and heat it in a small saucepan. Bring both to a boil.

  2. While those heat up, add the tea, honey, and collagen to a large mug.

  3. When the water boils, measure out 4 oz. and pour it into the mug. Stir well. I usually use a handheld electric milk frother, but you can also use a whisk, a fork, or a spoon.

  4. Then, add the warm milk to the mug and stir that in as well. If you're using an electric frother, it should get a little bit of foam on top! 

  5. Let cool a little if necessary, and then sip slowly and enjoy!
