Summer. Everything is alive. So many plants are in season that I decided to write two posts about it! Thanks to the long-sun days and warm nights, summer is an excellent time to visit farmers markets and local U-Pick farms. Summer marks the beginning of the harvest, both for farmers and backyard gardeners. Although summer is famous for its ripe, sweet berries and fruits (which I'll talk about in my next post!), vegetables are also bountiful this time of year. See the picture below for a guide to summer vegetables!
One thing you may notice is the tomatoes. I know, I know, tomatoes are technically a fruit, but in culinary and, dare I say, phenomenological terms, tomatoes are most certainly vegetables.
